Instagram Story and Reels safe zone
On a Story, Instagram puts its name and close button at the top and the reply field at the bottom. Drop your photo and see exactly what stays in view, so words and faces aren't covered.
- Every screen shows this - words and faces here
- May be cut or covered on some screens
Questions
What size is an Instagram Story?
1080 × 1920 px, that is 9:16 - the whole phone screen. The same for Reels.
What is the safe zone on a Story?
Leave about 250 px clear at the top (the account name and close button) and 340 px at the bottom (reply and send), plus about 60 px at the sides. Words and faces in the middle.
Is it the same for Reels?
Nearly: on Reels the caption and the buttons on the right cover even more at the bottom and right, so keep important words a little higher.
Do you upload my photo?
No. Everything shows in your browser; the photo never leaves your device.
